SkySpark License Update Instructions

Prerequisites

  • Ensure you have access to the backup repository:
    • Google Drive path: GDrive/shared drives/ CA IT Secure/ Licenses
    • Access granted to: James, Will, and Dave

Steps to Update SkySpark Licenses

1. Access the Backup Repository

  1. Navigate to the Google Drive backup repository.
  2. Download the new license file from GDrive/shared drives/ CA IT Secure/ Licenses.

2. SSH into the Linux Server

  1. Open your terminal.
  2. SSH into the Linux server where SkySpark is running:
    ssh username@linux_server_address

3. Navigate to the License Directory

  1. Change directory to the SkySpark license folder:
    cd /skyspark/shared_var/lic

4. Backup the Old License

  1. Rename the old license file to keep a backup:
    mv current_license_file.lic current_license_file.lic.old

5. Add the New License

  1. Upload the new license file to the lic folder.

6. Restart the SkySpark Service (Production instance only outside of working hours)

  1. Restart the SkySpark service:
    sudo systemctl restart skyspark.service

7. Verify the Service is Running

  1. Check the running services to ensure SkySpark is active:
    systemctl --type=service --state=running
  2. Confirm that skyspark.service is listed among the running services.

Additional Information

Different Licenses

  1. 10,000 Point License - Production instance
  2. 1,000 Point License - Demo instance
  3. 100 Point License - Floating license (often forgotten)

  • Obtain the license from Forest Rock, which sources it from SkySpark.
